Washington Nationals selected Purke in the third round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Texas Christian University .... Also selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round (14th overall) in the 2009 MLB Draft out of Klein High School (Klein, Texas) .... Was selected as the Arizona Fall League Player of the Week in October 2013 while with the Mesa Solar Sox .... Ranked as the Washington Nationals No. 7 prospect prior to the 2012 season and was ranked as the Nationals' No. 10 prospect prior to the 2013 season, per Baseball America .... Was selected as Baseball America's Freshman of the Year in 2010 at TCU, going 15-0 with a 3.03 ERA and 140 strikeouts to 32 walks in 110 innings .... Was selected as a Louisville Slugger 2nd-Team All-American, the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year and to the All-Mountain West Conference First Team in 2010
