On this day back in 2018, the Skeeters took down the Blue Crabs 4-1 at Constellation Field. Helping power the Skeeters to the victory was Denis Phipps, who belted a solo home run in the eighth inning for some added insurance. It marked the first, but certainly not the last, home run of Phipps’ Skeeters career. Phipps ended his first year with the Skeeters with nine home runs, including a homer in the decisive Game 5 of the Atlantic League Championship Series against Long Island. The former Major Leaguer followed that up with a team-high 21 homers in 2019 on his way to being named the Skeeters MVP. Phipps ranks sixth all-time in Skeeters history with 30 career regular-season home runs and his 21 homers in 2019 are tied for the second-most in Skeeters single-season history.
