LAST TIME OUT: The Skeeters took Game 2 of their three-game set at Southern Maryland with a 9-5 victory on Wednesday night. Dallas Beeler collected the win for the Skeeters while Kyle Drabek took the loss for the Blue Crabs. Juan Silverio provided a three-run homer while driving in four runs during the contest.

TIGHT FINISH: The Skeeters have won eight of their last 11 games, despite only outscoring opponents 37-34 over that stretch. The Skeeters rotation owns a 1.93 ERA over that stretch (98 IP). Six of the Skeeters' last 11 games have been decided by one run and the Skeeters lead the Atlantic League with a 19-12 record in one-run contests this season.

BUST OUT THE BROOMS: The Skeeters are going for a sweep of their three-game series at Southern Maryland on Thursday night, which would be their fourth sweep of the season and second sweep on the road. The Skeeters only road sweep of the season also came at Southern Maryland (Aug. 7-9). The Skeeters' other two sweeps came against the Road Warriors (July 13-19) and the New Britain Bees (April 27-May 2).

POWER SURGE: Derek Norris belted his 10th home run of the season in Wednesday's win, giving the Skeeters six players with at least 10 home runs this season. It's the first time in franchise history that the Skeeters have six players with at least 10 home runs in a season. The Skeeters are the only team in the Atlantic League to accomplish the feat this season. The last Atlantic League team to accomplish the feat was the 2017 New Britain Bees, which had seven players with at least 10 home runs. The Skeeters are second in the Atlantic League with 103 homers as a team this season, trailing Long Island (110).

TRUE ROAD WARRIORS: Following Wednesday's win, the Skeeters' road record moved to 27-22 (.551), which leads the Atlantic League. The Skeeters have won eight of their last 10 road games, outscoring opponents 73-41 over that stretch. The Skeeters' top road record came in 2013 (45-24, .652), which was the only time in the franchise's history that it led the Atlantic League in road winning percentage.

MATTer OF FACT: Skeeters first baseman Matt Chavez is fifth in the Atlantic League with a .328 batting average and is in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, going 9-for-25 (.360) with a double, triple, home run and six RBIs throughout the streak. Chavez is also second in the league in hits (146), tied for fifth with 71 RBIs and is tied for eighth with 21 doubles. Chavez is on pace to set the Skeeters record for a qualifying batting average to end a season, surpassing Ricky Hague's .311 batting average in 2016. Chavez's 146 hits are fourth-most in a single season in Skeeters history. Anthony Godwin owns the Skeeters' single-season hits record, with 157 hits in 2013.

JUAN OF A KIND: Through his first 41 games with the Skeeters, Juan Silverio has hit .321/.360/.509 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 31 RBIs. Silverio has a hit in 21 of his last 23 games, going 32-for-90 (.356) with two home runs and 23 RBIs over that span. Silverio has also reached safely in 23 straight games, which is the second-longest active on-base streak in the Atlantic League. It also matches Matt Chavez (July 30-August 25) for the longest on-base streak from the Skeeters this season.

CHANCE AT HISTORY: The Skeeters enter Thursday's game with a 77-39 overall record, equaling a .664 winning percentage. The Skeeters set the Atlantic League records in 2013 with 95 total wins and a .679 winning percentage. The Skeeters need to win nine of their final 10 games of the season to surpass their 2013 winning percentage.

CHASING THE MAGIC: The Skeeters enter Thursday's game with a magic number of five over the York Revolution to clinch the second-half Freedom Division title. Any combination of Skeeters wins and York losses totaling five will result in the Skeeters clinching the second-half title.

2018 VS. SOUTHERN MARYLAND: The Skeeters are 13-5 against Southern Maryland this season and have won seven of their last eight games against the Blue Crabs. They've gone 7-3 at Constellation Field and 6-2 at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Skeeters have hit .293/.380/.494 with 26 home runs in 18 games against Southern Maryland while the pitching staff owns a 3.30 ERA (161 IP).

CRAB DINNER: Juan Silverio has hit .364 (12-for-33) with two home runs and 10 RBIs in eight games against the Blue Crabs this season. Albert Cordero has hit .361 (26-for-72) with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 17 games and Anthony Giansanti has hit .347 (25-for-72) with six doubles, four home runs and 15 RBIs in 18 games.

AMAZING AUGUST: The Skeeters ended August with a 19-8 record, which led the Atlantic League. The Skeeters also led the league with a 3.00 ERA and a .300 batting average during the month. Excluding April, the Skeeters' .300 batting average was the highest of any month this season and the 3.00 ERA was the second-lowest of any month, with the Skeeters' lowest monthly ERA coming in June (2.85) The Skeeters led the Atlantic League with a 17-8 July record as well and were tied for the league lead with an 18-10 record in June.
