Constellation Energy League All-Star Jamie Westbrook has signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Westbrook, 25, was the Sugar Land Lightning Sloths MVP after hitting .294/.347/.553 with seven doubles, five homers and 18 RBIs through 27 games. He was tied for second in the league in RBIs and tied for third in doubles.
The Arizona native was selected as one of three outfielders on the Constellation Energy League All-Star team, along with Courtney Hawkins (Team Skeeters) and Evan Marzilli (Reyes del Tigre).
Westbrook joins RHP Joe Wieland (Chicago Cubs) as players to sign with a Major League organization following the conclusion of the CEL season. Five players had their contracts purchased by MLB organizations during the CEL season, with three appearing in the Major Leagues in 2020.
The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Westbrook in the fifth round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Gilbert High School (Basha, Ariz.). He spent seven seasons in the Diamondbacks system, reaching the Triple-A level in both 2018 and ‘19. Through his seven seasons in the affiliated minor league level, Westbrook has hit .280/.334/.431 with 76 home runs and 397 RBIs in 781 games.
