LANE SIGNS WITH PADRES ORGANIZATION
Left-hander to Join San Diego’s Triple A Tucson Club

SUGAR LAND, TX – The First Half Freedom Division Champion Sugar Land Skeeters announced today that Skeeters starting pitcher Jason Lane has signed with the San Diego Padres organization and will report to its Triple A Tucson club. The announcement was made by Skeeters Manager Gary Gaetti and Director of Operations Michael Kirk.

Lane, 36, posted an 8-3 record with a 2.80 ERA (31ER/99.2IP) in 16 starts for Sugar Land this season. He also played 30 games as an outfielder and designated hitter for the Skeeters, hitting .167 (7x42) with two doubles. Over 13 career minor league seasons, Lane owns a 19-8 record with a 3.47 ERA (99ER/257IP) in 66 appearances (33 starts) and a .275 (1282x4665) average over 1,307 games.

Originally selected by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the June 1999 Draft out of the University of Southern California, Lane spent parts of six seasons in the Major Leagues with Houston (2002-07) and San Diego (2007). In 497 Major League games as an outfielder, he hit .241 (291x1208) with 61 home runs and 189 RBI.

Lane is now the eighth member of Sugar Land’s 2013 club and 18th overall to be signed by a Major League organization since Opening Day 2012.

Atlantic League Division Series play begins Tuesday, September 17 at Constellation Field. Fans are encouraged to continue checking the Skeeters website for more information on the playoff schedule and ticket availability. The Skeeters organization will announce public on-sale dates for playoff tickets in the coming weeks, giving fans the most opportunity to secure their seats in witnessing Sugar Land baseball history.
